Founded by Tara, a passionate braiding enthusiast from East London, Mamas That Braid began as a simple love for creating cornrows on friends’ hair during play time at school. Over the years, Tara’s hobby blossomed into a professional venture with a heartfelt mission: to empower others through the art of braiding.
The inspiration behind Mamas That Braid came from styling her daughter’s hair and the growing curiosity from other parents eager to learn. Tara recognised the challenges many parents face when caring for their children’s unique hair textures, and she knew she could make a difference.
Today, Mamas That Braid offers workshops and services designed to equip parents with the confidence and skills to style their children’s hair with ease and love. Beyond parents, we also inspire the next generation—providing lessons to children from Year 6 and up, encouraging them to embrace their creativity, self-love, and the beauty of their individuality.
